People that are LGBTQ, poor, immigrants, people of color and so many more of us will need to stand together for the days ahead of us will be difficult.

We have heard their plan, mass repeal of everything from food stamps to Obamacare to marriage equality and more. We must stand up against this.

Lift up each other, and focus on a better future for all. Are you able or do you dream of walking down the street holding the hand of your husband, wife or friend without fear?

Maybe you hear about a friend, brother or other picked up by an immigration officer, your paycheck different than a man doing the same job. Can you check into a hotel and not be given separate beds? And can you go to a dance club without always checking to see where the exits are?

For those that have lived through the many years from the 60’s to now, we know that our communities are best when under siege. We have outlasted Anita Bryant!

If Muslims are attacked, we stand together. If Blacks are attacked, we stand together. If Jews are victimized, we stand together.

We have been here before, feeling beaten done but their will be many times when we need to feel connected together to fight for justice. Here are a few suggestions:

Be connected to others.

It is very easy to feel lonely and afraid. Reach out to those you know are hurting. There are many vigils and gatherings across the country organized by progressive groups.

Take Action

Join groups to educate yourself and teach others how to resist racism and homophobia.
