Happy Labor Day and after the celebration lets return to the fight!
The unofficial Labor Day kickoff of the fall campaign season could push anxiety levels higher as the parties scramble to game out and shape where the electoral circus is headed. Here at the NABWMT we vote our values, freedom, inclusivity and support for all, especially at the margins.
With Trump out of office but still desperate to wield influence over his party like an incumbent president, these elections will be more edge-of-your-seat than usual. Why?
Democrat’s are favored to win the Senate by 68% and the Republicans to win the House by 78%.
Biden’s ratings have increased after Democratic’s passed broad economic and climate-change legislation, and the Inflation Reduction Act. But, of course, the midterms are still two months away, and given the volatility of the past month in Biden’s approval rating, there’s still plenty of time for it to go down once more. Then again, maybe Biden is, at long last, on the rebound.
Democrats over performed in multiple special elections. The party’s voters are feeling more energized and we hope you are too.
There are many reasons for this: gas prices easing, mediocre-to-awful Republican nominees struggling to find their groove. But perhaps the biggest unforeseen factor:is that American women don’t like being told that they don’t have a right to bodily autonomy. At least 9 republican candidates have scrubbed their anti-abortion stands on their websites.
A recent poll found a 13-point jump since March in the number of people who said abortion rights would be “very important” in their midterm vote — a rise driven overwhelmingly by Democrats.
Also, the G.O.P.’s moral compass has been shattered by events. So much so that President Biden has, in recent speeches, warned that “MAGA Republicans” are a threat to democracy. . Trump has consistently exhibited fascist tendencies, as well as espoused racism, misogyny and white nationalism.
A Public Religion Research Institute poll published in November found that nearly a third of Republicans agreed with the statement “Because things have gotten so far off track, true American patriots may have to resort to violence in order to save our country.”
Given all of this NOW is the time, more than ever, to mobilize in action to stop this rot!
Our Political Action Team at the NABWMT, has actions that have been shown in research to work.
Along with their allies and friends they have knocked on doors to get out the vote. They have sent out hundreds of letters and dozens of post cards. They have sent thousands of texts to support the right to vote.
