Chapters of the NABWMT, by their very nature as interracial organizations, must help their members to actively resist the dynamics of racism in their lives. In addidtion, BWMT, MACT, and PACT groups can serve invaluable roles in their local communities, by acting as resources in the continual confrontation with racism.
This guide is designed to serve as an aid to both of the above goals, its specific purpose being:
- To provide readers with brief background material on the subject of racism.
- To share outlines and activities for use in conducting workshops on racism.
- To offer concrete materials, appropriate for use in workshop follow-up.
- To suggest additional resources for use in anti-racist programs.
Many of the workshop outlines included in this guide, can serve the dual role of helping the individual members of NABWMT chapters to confront their own racism, as well as helping the members of other organizations in their area to address the same issue. (It must be remembered that simply being part of an interracial group, such as BWMT, MACT, and PACT, does not necessarily mean that one has come to grips with all of the racist elements that exist in our society, and thus exist within ourselves. Resisting racism is a continual struggle.)
Finally, it must be constantly remembered that unless we are part of the solution, we remain part of the problem. Resist Racism - Now!
